Intro to International Particle Physics Masterclasses
APS and The International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG) are hosting virtual workshops on how to deliver a particle physics Masterclass.
The International Masterclass - hands on particle physics is a standalone activity of the International Particle Physics Outreach Group, and is used in more than 60 countries worldwide each year. In a Masterclass, high school students will learn about methods, tools and open research questions in this field, perform measurements on real data from particle physics experiments, and take part in the research process. Students will gain insight in topics and methods of basic research on the fundamentals of matter and forces.
In this intro event, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use the resources that IPPOG has created for you to deliver your own particle physics masterclass in your classrooms or public engagement activities, including guidance through the activity, and how to perform measurements on real data from particle physics experiments.
There will be two successive 45-minute sessions; participants can come to one or both. During each session you can select which of the different experiments you would like to learn more about. Sound fun? Please indicate your interest in attending.
On the day of, all you have to do is log in via the Zoom link that will be sent to you after you register. Everyone is welcome, regardless of subject field or experience.
